I. Analysis on the Status Quo of Tai Ji Quan
Tai Ji Quan has become an icon of a particular type of sport. It’s widely known as a Chinese national legacy of health-keeping exercise.
In the eyes of Chinese traditional culture and traditional Kung-fu inheritors, Tai Ji Quan falls into one category of Chinese traditional boxing and it is a part of Chinese Kung-fu. On the other hand, however, very few people in or outside China who are doing sports recognize the connection between Tai Ji Quan and Chinese Kung-fu. In their thinking, Tai Ji Quan is merely an exercise for amateurs, the elderly, or those who are physically weak. In other words, Tai Ji Quan is regarded as a cheap and convenient kind of sport.
